Susie’s Place Bloomington is Moving

In February 2016, Susie’s Place Bloomington will be moving to a new home.  We are moving from 451 S. Parkridge Road to 365 S. Parkridge Road.  Luckily, it is within the same business park as our current center, so we will be in our same neighborhood and still work with our wonderful landlord.  Our new location is much larger and the setup is more conducive to what we do.  The new space has separate office areas and more private waiting areas so that our staff, families and teams will have the room needed for privacy, security and comfort.

In addition to size, our Bloomington center has grown with the relocation and addition of new staff.  As of the end of October, Trisha Guinn has changed from floating between the centers to being permanently assigned to Bloomington.  Her mix of leadership, experience and training has been a great asset to that location.  In December, Charlotte Willian joined the staff as a Child and Family Advocate specific to that center.  We are thrilled to have an advocate assigned to each center providing assistance to families in each service area.  Most recently, Melissa Brown joined the Bloomington team as a new Forensic Interviewer.  Melissa’s background makes her well suited to this position and her passion for helping children will make her a great addition.

While our growth is exciting and will lead to serving the children of that area even better, it also comes with some specific needs.  First, we are in need of volunteers.  We will be moving into the new location the week of February 8th.  Volunteers are needed for transport, packing, unpacking, organizing and decorating.  We would like our center to be down for as little time as possible, so if you have any availability, we would appreciate your assistance. You can sign up to volunteer now.

Another need that comes with greater space is the need for more furniture and supplies, and our Wish List for the Bloomington Center is available now.  If you are willing and able to assist with any of the items on that list, please designate it as “done” so more generous donors may fulfill other needs.
