Mike Hurst, Chair
Hurst, a graduate of Purdue University, with bachelor’s degrees in Management and Psychology and a master’s degree in management, brings more than 25 years of experience in the banking and finance industry.
Hurst and his wife, Pam, live in Martinsville, Indiana and are active in community organizations. Mike is the President of the Morgan County Economic Development Corporation and serves on the Boards for Susie’s Place Child Advocacy Center and Lynx Capital Corporation, a minority lending organization.
Chelsea Dickerson, Vice Chair
Chelsea has spent her career in healthcare and is passionate about helping people live their best lives. She currently serves as the Nutrition Navigator through the Coordinated Health Program at Union Health. In this role, she supports the students, families and employees of the Vigo County School Corporation to establish healthy behaviors and reduce chronic disease development in the community.
Prior to functioning in this capacity, she has functioned administratively and clinically as a registered nurse in both hospital and corporate healthcare settings. She received her bachelor’s degree from Indiana State University and master’s degree from Indiana Wesleyan University.
Chelsea has always been committed to the safety and flourishing of the children in her community. Prior to joining the board at Susie’s Place in 2023, Chelsea served the Terre Haute community through the League of Terre Haute. This organization is dedicated to serving children through their Clothes Close and Dental Education and Extended Services.
Chelsea and her family reside in Terre Haute. They enjoy traveling (for sports and vacation), being active, spending time at the pool and serving at their local church.
Adam Smithey, Secretary
Adam Smithey, PhD, LMFT is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Relationship Expert with his own private practice where he serves couples and families locally, nationally, and internationally.
For 20+ years, he has devoted his professional life helping couples and families and has a thriving private practice where he specializes in building, maintaining, and repairing all relationships. His practice is built on his expertise in marathon counseling, where couples complete 6-15+ months of traditional therapy in as little as 2-5 days.
With what seems like some wonderful accomplishments, he is most proud of his hard-earned title of Stay-at-Home-Dad for 10 years to his three often-wonderful-sometimes-not children.
Married to his wife Kassie in 2012. Since their beginning, both he and his wife have been involved in various local non-profit efforts, mainly focusing on child sexual abuse prevention and education. Together, they have passionately supported the mission and vision of Susie’s Place since 2016.
Lora Denney
Lora Denney holds a bachelor’s degree in Public Health from IU’s SPEA Program with a Chemistry Minor. She is the Vice President of Denney Companies and has worked there in some capacity for over 30 years. There, she oversees administrative functions, regulatory compliance, risk assessment, safety planning, and philanthropy opportunities.
Lora is an active kid’s ministry volunteer at my church. She served as a CASA in Putnam County for a decade and is a committed supporter of several local charities. She is a passionate advocate for children’s physical and mental healthcare, hospital philanthropy, and community well-being. Currently she serves on the Mill Creek East PTO and on the Riley Children’s Foundation Board of Governors.
Lora resides in Clayton, Indiana with her husband Randy. They have two children and six grandchildren. She enjoys spending time with family, enjoying nature, and raising chickens.
Drew Feutz
Drew Feutz, CFP®, is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional and Founder of Migration Wealth Management, LLC, a fee-only wealth management firm that specializes in providing financial planning and investment management to people in their 30s and 40s and those who are nearing retirement or are newly retired.
Drew is originally from Eminence, IN and graduated summa cum laude from Indiana State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science with a double major in financial planning and investments.
In addition to Susie’s Place, he currently serves on the Hendricks County Community Foundation Board of Directors and the Hendricks Regional Health Foundation Board of Directors.
He previously served as Chair of the NAPFA Genesis Committee, Treasurer of Young Professionals of Central Indiana, and as a board member of the Indiana State University Financial Planning Advisory Board. Additionally, Drew co-founded and co-hosts the Circle City Success Podcast.
Drew lives in Avon with his wife, Amanda, and their golden retriever, Gus.
Alicia Hummel
Alicia has built her career around supporting people, strengthening teams, and creating meaningful connections. She currently serves as Strategic Manager of Commercial Operations at Envita Solutions, a company of The Heritage Group, where she leads customer implementations, aligns cross-functional teams, and delivers a consistent, high-quality experience for clients and internal partners.
After earning her bachelor’s degree from Ball State University, Alicia began her career in education, where she developed a lasting passion for investing in others. She later spent 12 years as a stay-at-home mom—an experience she considers the most meaningful role of her career—and continues to mentor young professionals today.
Alicia transitioned into environmental services and HR consulting, partnering with organizations nationwide to build strong teams, improve processes, and turn ideas into action. She’s known for her positive energy, practical mindset, and ability to bring people together and drive momentum.
A longtime Hendricks County resident, Alicia is passionate about giving back and supporting organizations that make a meaningful community impact.
She and her husband—her college sweetheart of 25 years—have three children, Andrew, Alec, and Lucy, along with two beloved fur babies. As a family, they enjoy traveling (especially to National Parks), spending time at the lake, and being on the water with family and friends. Alicia is also an avid foodie and loves to cook.
Andee Kettlebar
Andee Kettlebar is the Chief Growth Officer at Elements Financial, where she leads enterprise growth strategy across Business Development, Marketing, and Deposit Strategy. Since joining the organization in 2013, she has been instrumental in expanding market presence, strengthening strategic partnerships, and driving sustainable growth.
Andee brings more than 20 years of experience in financial services, with a background spanning retail banking, mortgage lending, and sales leadership. She began her career at Michiana’s Finest Bank and later held roles at Chase before joining Elements as a Mortgage Sales Manager. She was promoted to Vice President of Sales in 2017, where she led sales performance and team development across the organization.
She holds a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education from Indiana University and resides in Westfield, Indiana, with her husband and four children.
Mike Latta
Mike Latta is the Marketing and Community Affairs Manager for SERVPRO of Vigo, where he helps families and business owners navigate the stress of property emergencies. With a career built on being a calm, reliable resource for the Terre Haute community, Mike is dedicated to ensuring his neighbors have the support they need during their most difficult moments.
Mike first learned of the vital work done at Susie’s Place during his 35-year career in broadcasting at WTHI-TV News 10. Impacted by the stories he saw and the resilience of the children involved, he knew he wanted to help in any way he could. Since then, he has been a hands-on advocate, coordinating a fundraiser and organizing “Donation Days” to help stock the Terre Haute center with the snacks and supplies essential for the children they serve.
His decades of service as an Assignments Manager and Chief Photographer were professionally honored in 2022 with an induction into the Silver Circle of Excellence by the Ohio Valley National Academy of Arts and Sciences.
Beyond his professional work, Mike is a co-founder of the Wabash Valley Jeep Junkies. Alongside his wife, Julie, he has spent nine years raising funds for local breast cancer fighters, while also mobilizing the group to deliver Meals on Wheels and provide emergency transportation for first responders during severe weather.
Mike is also a Rotarian and board member for Wabash Valley Crime Stoppers. Mike has been married to Julie for 38 years. They have three sons—Tanner, Mitchell, and Drake—and three dogs: Jaxx, Ruby, and Elanor.
Lindsey Libunao
Before joining forces with her husband in 2015; opening State Farm Agencies in the Indianapolis and Fishers areas, Lindsey served in a variety of roles directly impacting families and children.
Lindsey graduated from Indiana University with a degree in psychology. Lindsey worked alongside Susie’s Place in her role with The Department of Child Services. She went on to continue working with families in ongoing case management for several years in multiple states. Most recently, she enjoyed her Psychometrist position administering neuropsychological and psychological tests.
Lindsey has a passion for empowering women and families as well as assisting those in need. She has also volunteered and worked with Allies, an organization focused on mentoring and assisting young women have who have been victims of human trafficking.
Residing in Fishers with her husband and 3 young children. She enjoys spending time with her family and traveling.
Jean Renk
Jean Renk is the Manager for Government and Community Relations for Duke Energy. She represents the utility corporation and the Duke Energy Foundation in Hendricks, Morgan, Johnson, Shelby, and Hancock Counties.
In addition to her work with Susie’s Place, Jean serves on the Ivy Tech Indianapolis Campus Board of Trustees, Plainfield Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, and the Plainfield Redevelopment Commission. Jean is an Indiana University graduate and lives in Plainfield with her husband and son.
Berkley Rios
Berkley Rios is a communications leader with more than a decade of experience in healthcare communications, public relations, and community engagement. She serves as a communications manager at Indiana University Health, where she leads regional internal and external communications strategy focused on storytelling, engagement, and connection across the communities IU Health serves in Metro Indianapolis.
A graduate of Indiana University, Berkley is passionate about using communications to support mission‑driven work and elevate stories that reflect care, dignity, and impact. She is honored to serve on the Susie’s Place Board of Directors and to contribute her professional expertise in support of children and families. Berkley lives in Brownsburg with her husband and two children (soon to be four with twins on the way!) and is actively engaged at Traders Point Christian Church.
Carrie Schroeder
Carrie Schroeder is a senior executive, advisor, and coach with more than 25 years of global experience spanning sales, strategy, and leadership development. As Founder of CS Consulting, Co-Founder of The B2B Builder, and Principal at Polaris Advisors LLC, she helps organizations grow with clarity and resilience by aligning people, purpose, and execution.
Carrie is passionate about giving back to her community. She serves as Vice Chair & Secretary of the Hendricks Regional Health Foundation Board of Directors and is a Charter Member of the Hendricks Community Foundation Women’s Giving Circle. Outside of the boardroom, she channels her passion for wellness as a Barre & Pilates instructor and Reiki practitioner, helping clients find strength and healing through movement and energy work.
Carrie is excited to bring her expertise in strategy and leadership to Susie’s Place in support of the organization’s vital work serving children and families. She lives in Danville with her partner Aaron and their two fur babies, Nezzie and Tashi.
Brian Short
Brian Michael Short is a seasoned Sales Manager with 25 years of experience driving growth for small businesses in the consumer-packaged goods (CPG) industry. Known for his strategic approach and dedication, Brian’s internal and public facing leadership has consistently helped companies expand their sales and strengthen their market presence. Beyond his professional achievements, he is a loving, devoted father of two. Above all else, he values his time with his children and close friends and family. Additionally, Brian has earned the respect of the greater Indianapolis region and beyond in part due of his philanthropic efforts.
Brian enjoys cooking, golfing, bowling, and coaching, activities that reflect his passion for community and mentorship. He is deeply committed to the belief that every child deserves the chance to simply be a child, advocating for opportunities that support their development and well-being.
